The Lowdown
Alright, let me look at what we've got here for Gleneden Beach. To be honest, right now it's a bit of a quiet stretch. The next week or so is looking pretty tough. We've got a moderate cross-shore wind and some cross-chop hanging around, with the swell mostly small and weak, with a combined energy in the 100s and low 200s. It's not going to be pretty.
Now, the good news is that things might change. Looking way ahead, around Monday the 18th of August, we could see something come together. That Tuesday morning on the 19th is looking like a standout. The winds are forecast to go glassy, with a calm to slight air, which is a massive win for clean conditions. We'd be looking at a consistent 3ft to 4ft swell from the west, with a decent period around 13 seconds. That long-period groundswell will bring some good shape and energy, with combined swell energy climbing into the 400s and 600s. This spot is exposed to the west, so it's a good match. For a spot that’s fairly consistent, this is the one to pencil in. Remember, it's a beach break, so with that longer period it might want to stand up a bit straight, but it's still the best on offer.
The rest of the second week is marginal at best, with onshore winds and smaller energy levels in the mid-100s to mid-300s. There's really nothing else that jumps out for a good surf until that Tuesday.
So, keep an eye on the 19th. It’s a bit far out, but it’s worth waiting for.
