Waihau Bay Surf Guide

Waihau Bay in East Cape is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the south and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the north. The beach break provides left and right handers and there are also left and right hand reef breaks on offer. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when the surf is up, crowds are unknown.
