“This break has been misnamed which made it dificult to find on this site. its not the Tokatu peninsula - its called the Tawharanui peninsula.
Anyways - this is break that we generally use as it almost always has something on it unlike the neighboring Omaha beach.
The break is inside an ecological reserve so access is a little hampered by the main gates being shut at night.
This beach get very busy in the summer to the point where its impossible to surf in the main section of the beach due to huge amounts of swimmers.
I will point out that the locals here are quite tolerant of guests as most people who surf here are out-of-towners.
Sharks are not as common as Omaha (where they breed) but I would recomend taking it easy on the road as its quite narrow and busy in the summer”
