“Been on Tioman two weeks, good breaks of 2+ feet on the east side for 6-7 days, small baby waves on the other days.
Didn't bring a board, but can rent at a few places for 80 ringgit / day.
Nice relaxing surf stop on our SE Asia tour. My girlfriend says the island and the waves are "friendly". Good place to chill, not for intense surf in this season I guess...”

“Caught some good waves here early August. Mentawak Beach has left and right breaks, beach or coral.
Took a surf camp with Ombak House to work on my turns and flicks, these guys make it look so easy.
The village is great location and quiet beach, even if there's no swell there's something to do. Delicious and cheap food at Pondok Bar and free WiFi. :)”

“I came to Tioman Island for a SurfYoga retreat at Ombak House in Juara. The beach is incredible, so clean and not crowded with people.
The waves were good, this was my first time learning to surf. Close to the Ombak House on the north end of Mentawak Beach is smaller waves, maybe 1-2 feet, perfect to learn. If you go more south down the beach the wave gets bigger and bigger, I see guys surfing 10+ feet! I was too scared to try, but maybe next year when I come back I will be good enough to surf the "Coral" break.
If you want to learn surfing definitely try the camp at Ombak House, they were so patient and good teachers to me, I stood up on my first day!”

“Recently I'm at the island for surf and found one shop Polau Industries which sell and rental surf boards, accessories and also sup needed.
The location at the main village (TEKEK VILLAGE) only 35 min by car from the Juara Village. Also selling the surf, beach apparel. The surf boards and body board for rental very nice and clean, also doing surf trip and surf lesson.
Cheers”
