Te Kapu in Mahia is an exposed reef break that has unreliable waves. Summer offers the optimum conditions for surfing. Ideal winds are from the southwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the northeast. A right hand reef break. Rarely crowded here. Beware of rocks and locals.
