“A hoax. Let the locals have it. Closeouts for most of the time. Onshores from November to end of February. Great for a swim, chilling out and small early morning sessions. Best to head north. Nuff said.”

“Tathra is usually best early mornings before the onshore blows up, great fun in 2-3ft.
However it is often said that if Tathra is good there are plenty of breaks nearby that will be better, this is true but Tathra is a great central location to explore these secret breaks from.
I don't know why it has sharks listed in the hazards as there's never been an attack there.”

“Locals, don't do this, don't do that....
Get to Tathra and have a surf - been doing it for 20 years no dramas a great spot.”
Etrain from AUSTRALIA - 08 Jul 2010
“Tathra is always flat in summer, the bigger and better waves are late February to June and you can also get good waves in the winter but it is usually chopped up by the wind. The best waves are usually at the northern end with a good bank at the river mouth (when it is open ) and it is usually bigger once you get half way along the beach which is called the pole.
Don't try and snake and take waves of the young locals because they rip it up and you will get in trouble and struggle to get another wave for your session, the locals are very nice but you shouldn't turn up to a beach and not know the history behind it and all the groups that have surfed it and try and take waves of the locals.”
