Sea Island Surf Guide

Sea Island in Georgia is a beach break that only works once in a while with no particular seasonal pattern. Offshore winds blow from the northwest. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the east. The beach break provides left and right handers. The location means that it never gets crowded. Beware of - Rocks.

“The forbidden wave.

Two Groins form the basis for one of Georgia’s best waves. The north rock groin is about 1500 feet (500m), somewhat T shaped. It provides protection from north winds that bring decent size surf. A Left works off the north rocks that works in two stages the outside fun leading to a fast inside section. About midpoint between the north and south jetty a Right works up. Use caution on North Easters as the southern rock can cause a rip into them. South of the smaller jetty the waves are workable with more of a beach effect.

Access is strictly limited. (Think The Ranch in California) This wave is very good, of all the waves in the state this one is at the top.”
