Pacifico Surf Guide

Pacifico in Siargao Islands is an exposed reef break that has consistent surf. Autumn and winter are the best times of year for waves. The best wind direction is from the southwest. Waves more likely to be from local windswells than distant groundswells and the ideal wave direction is from the northeast. A left hand reef. It very rarely gets crowded here. Submerged rocks are a hazard.

Surf Forecasts:

What's the best time of year to surf Pacifico (for consistent clean waves)?

septemberBest Season: summer
The best time of year for surfing Pacifico with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Summer and most often the month of September. Clean surfable waves are typically found 59% of the time in September while 16% of the time it tends to be blown out. For the remaining 25% of the time it is considered too small by most surfers but may still be OK for beginners and groms at times.
Surfable waves that hold up well for longer rides in prevailing cross-offshore, offshore or light wind conditions.
blown out
Surfable sized waves that are of poorer quality due to prevailing onshore, cross-onshore or windy conditions (may be preferable for kitesurfing).
too small
Waves usually considered too small for good surf. Some wave-magnet breaks may still work though if conditions are right (on occasion).

“Pacifico can have good surf the right time of year but can be fickle. The locals are mostly good people and if you have a good friendly attitude and try and help out some less fortunate locals you will be treated with respect and trust. Of coarse someone may be trying to get a little extra from you but hey, remind yourself that we live in another world of more opportunities and if you rock up showing off your money or look down on them of coarse you are going to be treated different. Be humble and try help the villages with rubbish or schooling etc. and you will have a rewarding time. The locals now are doing quite well from eco-tourism and the village is much better organised now than 10 years ago thanx to tourism and the government realising the potential of the area.what worries me is once it gets to G.L. situation it becomes a rat-race not a relaxing holiday so hope pacifico never becomes "over-cooked" Remember when you visit Siargao it's not all about you, try and put yourself in their shoes(or slippers)!”
