Merimbula Bar Surf Guide

Merimbula Bar in Far South Australia is a fairly exposed beach/Sandbar break that only works once in a while. Summer in particular tends to be flat. Works best in offshore winds from the north. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southeast. The beach breaks consists of lefts. It's often crowded here. Watch out for sharks.

Phil Osopher from Australia
“Very, very inconsistent. When it is small, it is assaulted by SUP's. When it is good, it is attacked by everyone and his pet dog. On its day though, it is a long, workable, whackable, Bali-like left. On sizeable days the paddle back out is shoulder-sapping. Snag a Bar wave on a good day, and it will have you hooked. You just have to be very, very patient.”
