Southport Main Beach on the Gold Coast is an exposed beach break that has very consistent surf and works all around the year. Ideal winds are from the west. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the east southeast. The beach break provides left and right handers. Good surf at all stages of the tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Take care of - Rips / undertow - Shark protected.
