Magheraroarty Reef Surf Guide

Magheraroarty Reef in Donegal is a fairly exposed point break that has unreliable waves. Summer in particular tends to be flat. The best wind direction is from the south and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Does not handle onshore winds very well Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the north northwest. No point break here and there is a left hand reef break as well. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Watch out for rocks.

“If you are in the area you should definitely visit Colls bar which overlooks the beach and reef. Without a doubt some of the best food you will ever taste. Also check out "Salt and Sand" on facebook. It's an adventure/activity club to keep the youngsters busy while you hit the massive waves on the reef.”
