Haumoana River Mouth in Hawkes Bay is an exposed River Bar break that has quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the west southwest. Clean groundswells prevail and the ideal swell direction is from the northeast. The beach breaks consists of rights. Good surf at all stages of the tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.

“A FANTASTIC wave that when working is as good as any around! Locals are an issue - they think they own the wave which is extremely disappointing. If you get the opportunity you have to surf it as it rocks!”
