Culdaff Surf Guide

Culdaff in Donegal is a quite exposed beach break that has dependable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best wind direction is from the southwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the north. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when the surf is up, crowds are unknown. Take care of rocks in the line up.

Be sure to click on the Advanced Surf option to see extra details about the sea-state. Look out for crossing swells and short period local wind swells and chop that will often spoil a groundswell even if the wind is perfect. As yet there is no allowance for this in the swell rating. This is something we are working on.
