Visitor reviews of Cherating surf break
(NOTE: Reviews may be edited by our content team for the purposes of ensuring accurate and relevant information)
“Cherating is one of the more consistent waves in Malaysia, but doesn't always get the size that Batu Buruk and other Terengganu areas further north get. The wave is fatter and not as powerful as others, but it is predictable as it is a point break. The wave can give you some very nice rides of 100m+ or more as it breaks left down a huge sand bar (where as many of the other beach breaks will be quite short as the steep shoreline of most beaches causes waves to break close to the beach). It can also give you some barrels on bigger days. The major problem is it is getting crowded on the weekends as it is the closest and most known break near KL. The nice thing is if you get tired of paddling, just walk up the sand bar and you're right out near the take off zone again...”
