Campbells Bay Surf Guide

Campbells Bay in N Otago is an exposed beach and point break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the west northwest. Groundswells and windswells are equally likely and the ideal swell direction is from the south southeast. Waves at the beach break both left and right and there is a left hand point break as well. Best around high tide. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Watch out for sharks.

Kooky surfer from New Zealand
“Terrible waves, you can barely get on them too, there's like one or two waves a set, too much kelp and a few sharks pop up here and there. Got to watch out for them, had one circling by the other surfer but you got to watch out for the locals most of all as they are quite aggressive towards non locals and won’t let you catch a wave. There’s normally 2 or 3 forms out there burning you out with little to no surf etiquette, go to Dunners instead.”
