Boneyard Surf Guide

Boneyard on the South Coast is an exposed reef break that has fairly consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best wind direction is from the west northwest with some shelter here from south winds. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southeast. A left hand reef. Best around mid tide when the tide is rising. Rarely crowded here. Be warned that sharks have been sighted.

Moggy from Australia
“Boneyard is a complex right reef break. On days where the swell is over 2 metres the outside peak features a steep takeoff over a deepwater ledge. The wave fades slightly before walling up again over the shallow inside section. If the swell is from the NE it will be bigger than most other breaks on the coast. Likes any wind from SW to SE, and good on all tides. Gets very crowded.”
