Er Duro from Canada
“I grew up surfing in Santo Domingo and quite often surfed Banzai and nearby La Boya. Banzai is a short, but extremely powerful right breaker wave that peaks and barrels in a few seconds, so time is of the essence to get up, take a quick turn (no bottom turns here), ride a hollow barrel and kick out, as there is nothing left afterwards. Slowing your speed by dragging your arm into the face of the wave as the barrel comes upon you will allow for a deep barrel immersion, which maximizes the thrill. Best wind direction is NE, as it hollows the barrels even more. This spot has to be surfed early in the morning, as winds are usually onshore by 10 AM.”
