“Yo, how's it going? Just like to say that the guy who said Awana is a reef break is off the wall. It's all sand mate the only place that's reef is the points on either side and they don't break; only on huge storms. Awana beach is a heavier wave compared to Medlands beach because of the compactness of the beach. It goes off wen the banks are right!!
Cheers (local) jadie xx”

“I've always loved Awana. There's always a good wave. No matter what, I'll always surf here.”

“Awana is basically beachbreak setup. Awana creek at North end of beach feeds fresh deposits of sand down the beach, particularly after heavy rain. Several rocky outcrops towards Southern end can favour bank formation. Never a guarantee of waves, but worth a check if swell too small for Okiwi or Shark Alley. If there are good banks the waves tend to have more power than the Islands other beaches.”
