Aviones Surf Guide

Aviones in Puerto Rico is an exposed reef break that is usually a safe bet. The best wind direction is from the south and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the north. No reef break here. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Likely to be crowded if working. Watch out for rocks.

Carlos Claudio (Levittown) from United States
“I am from Puerto Rico although live in the US now. I have surfed this spot many times. This spot is has a bizarre powerful wave. It can be surfed waist high and above. it is best when there is no wind or when the wind is blowing from the south. However this spot can be surfed even when it looks like absolute chop from the shore. This is what makes it a bizarre wave. It looks like crap when it is blown out yet if you catch one of those choppy waves it will give you speed and thrills that you will wonder how in the hell can this wave do this. It is usually crowded and very competitive. There are a lot of sea urchins and the paddle out is over a very shallow reef which you will more than likely scrape your fins. Never fails. Have fun.”
