Anclote Island in Gulf Coast, Florida is a reasonably exposed sandbar break. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Ideal winds are from the west and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. The short fetch makes for windswells rather than groundswells and the best wave direction is from the southwest. The sandbar break offers both left and right hand waves. Good surf at all stages of the tide. The location means that it never gets crowded.
