Swell from Hurricane Danielle is now arriving on the coast of NW Europe and for much of France, Britain and Ireland, it is meeting offshore winds. September conditions do not get much better than this. Swell height is around the 1m mark but the period, in the range 15-20 secs, means that exposed breaks are generally well overhead on the well-separated sets. Drop everything and get on it! Should last through the weekend, with the period getting shorter and the wave height growing.

SURF BREAKS: The maps contain links to a small selection of our detailed surf break pages. Select surf breaks from the information overlay menu and click light blue symbol for a detailed surf forecast a location closest to the place you are interested in. From there you will be able to select surf forecasts for nearby places that we can't display on this map.

TIDE PREDICTIONS: Dark blue symbols show just a few of the 10,000 locations where detailed tidal forecasts are available, together with marine forecasts at these locations

CITY FORECASTS: You can select an overlay of towns and cities from the pulldown menu above. Click a location closest to the place you are interested in. From there you will be able to see weather forecasts for nearby places.

SKI RESORTS: Major ski areas within the map region can be shown by choosing the ski resort overlay. Click a red symbol for a detailed forecast from Snow-Forecast.com
