Castlepoint - Slippery Surf Guide

Slippery-Castlepoint in the Waiararpa is an exposed reef break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the northwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Easily blown out by onshore winds Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southeast. A reef breaks left. Best around mid tide. It very rarely gets crowded here. Watch out for dangerous rips.
