The beach is vast and the hills in the distance are both large and very far away and combined with a wide-angle lens and nobody in the sea for scale, it all conspires to make the surf look small even though it is well overhead. The hindcast shows two solid swells with slightly different periods making for oversize sets. These sometimes broke level with the headland between here and Horseshoe Bay.
