Oaro had the biggest waves on the Kaikoura coast this day with periods when the faces were head high like this (but small spells too) compared with knee-waist high Mangamaunu. Strong fohn NW wind alternated here between straight offshore, strong sideshore from the NE, or from the SW, or just clam. Conditions alternated quickly.
