“Silistra,is a very beautiful beach bay break, rocks at both ends,so safe for all classes of surfer although a really nice place to be, it's rare that this break works; plus in summer it has been controlled by the Mafia, charging you to park and it's a national park beach!!!
It gets very, very busy in summer and of past years free camping has been stopped, it's such a shame, if you want to stay over at this break you have to go to the camp site, which I would recommend, but not in high season,as its full of bull-headed Bulgarian Mafia who think they own the place.
But back to the break; when the conditions are wright it has a left and right break and depending on the sandbar it has an easy paddle out using the small rip.
I would say its ok for learning on, doesn't get really big, possibly 1m max, but can be clean on the right day, but its rare.
There are better breaks in Bulgaria but if you want to take a partner who doesn't surf they will be happy too at this beautiful surf spot that will satisfy all.”

“Silistar is one of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in bulgaria, so surfing there is a bless...
The bay is quite small so it does close out, not much beyond 3 meters, the quality of the wave can change with the sandbar shift. Nasty rocks line the edges of the bay. The best direction for Silistar is ENE, spot gathers the east swells best,(as the bay faces east) The wave itself is a clear water , sand bottomed peak, it can be ridden both right and left, deppending on section. It can barrel sometimes, but it's mostly mush. When it's big the lack of channel is evident. In it's day... it can be a world class, 2.6 meters ,secluded beachbreak, for a few mates to share... !@! It's... fresh !”
