“Quick note: 2018 was a really bad and weird year for our seal population. This was true throughout the Gulf of Maine. I think it was some sort of viral thing that swept through. I'm happy to report that the only seals I saw over the course of 20 beach days this summer were quite happy and healthy.
Scarborough Beach is a beautiful 1-mile beach with a pretty gentle slope and consistently decent waves. There is a surf camp here and 24-hour access with a pass. The water and the beach are nice and clean, though it can get a little seaweedy after a storm.”

“Went there today 9 12 2018. found 10 dead seals in the high tide seaweed, all in various forms of decay and ages in less than a half mile of beach. something very wrong here, I didn't go out. Makes me wonder how many they've cleaned up in the past couple months and not told anyone about. I put one of the two skulls I found on the post at the entrance.”

“This is a great beach break, one of my favorites. This beach is generally one of the most consistent breaks in Maine. The surf from big swells is very steep, fast, and can barrel. This makes a great wave for a shortboard. It can be great fun to bring out the longboard and cruise too. The beach is very nice as well. The water seems to get warmer here than other places. Although be ware of rip currents that occur on a regular basis. There are lifeguards and a snack shack near by too. Over all this is my favorite beach in Maine.”
