“The surf is occasionally good, but is super inconsistent, sometimes its not rideable for weeks, or months. And, when the surf is rideable, 90% of the waves are close outs. When, the one peak is rideable, it's always crowded with locals and urban surfers from Portland who drop in on ya. So, you paddle thru waves for an hour, and when you finally get a good one, they will drop in on ya. Many of the surfers are big time jerks. its probably the most crowded surf spot, north of SF. the water is super cold in summer, because the north wind howls everyday, causing up welling. You need gloves in summer. and the blowing sand makes the beach miserable. and the swell quality is big but poor, mid period waves. Most short boarders get a short ride on a close out, and then must duck dive multiple waves to get back out. If it's winter, its much better to go skiing than surfing”
