Oreti Beach in Southland is an exposed beach break that only works once in a while with no particular seasonal pattern. Ideal winds are from the southeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the optimum swell angle is from the west. Waves at the beach break both left and right. Best around mid tide. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Take care of sharks/rips.
