Oilies in Illawarra is an exposed breakwater break that has quite reliable surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the west and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Groundswells and windswells are equally likely and the optimum swell angle is from the southeast. The breakwater breaks offer lefts and rights. It's sometimes crowded here. Take care of - Rocks - Man-made danger (buoys etc.) - Localism - Pollution - Sharks.
