Oakura Bay Surf Guide

Oakura Bay in Northland is a reasonably exposed reef break that has reasonably consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the west southwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the east southeast. The reef break offers both left and right hand waves. Best around high tide when the tide is rising. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days.
