“I am from Puerto Rico although I live in the US now. I have surfed this spot many times. This particular spot was one of my favorites. It is part of the "Escambron" beach. looking from the shore it would be the waves that are to the right and behind the rock outcrop. This wave requires the correct swell direction for it to work. North or northwest swells are what makes this spot fire up. You can easily tell if the swell is the correct direction because you would see right hand lines that start behind the rock and work their way down the line until they are in plain view. It has a very steep drop and a tricky bottom turn very close to outcropping reef as the water level gets sucked down by the wave. After that, the wave reforms into a long ledgy wall for smacking. Most people default to "La Ocho" surf spot on the other side of the rock however this spot is more powerful and challenging. If you have never surfed here before follow someone into the spot because the paddle in is tricky due to a natural barrier you have to clear before heading out.”
