“Just had the South West monsoon season here. It is great to be here to see it first hand and I was pleasantly surprised by the waves we got in this season. The water was great clear and warm and I actually got to ride the waves when it was at its biggest yet 5ft Australian size (double overhead).”

Regards Bibi (SURF to the MAX)
The waves here are perfect for learning in a very safe part of the TIP of BORNEO. The beach is beautiful and white and the water clear and blue. The waves come fairly regularly and the season is longer than mainland Malaysia , we have waves from June to September which is the South West monsoon and again in October to February, which is the North East monsoon; the pick being the holiday season Nov to Jan for consistency.
It's not like Bali: the waves are intermediate level safe when you are taught with the correct methods like ours at SURF to the MAX , SEE YOU THERE. Surfing is the best fun in the world.”

“I've been surfing Kudat as long as 15 years ago but this year I have spent the full monsoon season hear in Borneo. Im married to a local Kadazan girl and we stay on the beach front at our friends chalet. This season the locals say its been a bit off but I've had enough surf to be able to say its really a place to go for getting away from the hype that now goes with the surfing community. There are only afew local guys from the village (Kampung) AND maybe only a dozen from KK (Kota Kinabalu)
DEC2012 HAD ABOUT THREE GOOD 4FT DAYS , 1-2FT MOST DAYS COMING AND GOING. THE MONSOON FROM THE PHILIPPINES NEVER REALLY HIT HARD ENOUGH HERE.
2013 NEW YEAR HAD GOOD WAVES I'VE BEEN TOLD I HAD FAMILY STUFF TO DO AND MISSED IT.
WENT TO BRUNEI HAD 3FT PLUS SURFING PANTAI TONGKU DURING ANOTHER SWELL, KUDAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.
KUDAT WILL NEVER BEAT INDO OR PHILIPPINES FOR SURF BUT ITS WORTH CHECKING OUT IN WET SEASON NOV- FEB ,DEC TO JAN IDEAL
JUNE -JULY KK HAS WAVES. ANY STORM FROM UP NORTH CAN COME DURING THE YEAR IF YA LUCKY.”
