Kennington Cove in Cape Breton Island is an exposed beach break that has consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the north northwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the optimum swell angle is from the east. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. Surfable at all stages of the tide. It very rarely gets crowded here. Surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.

“Kennington Cove is a sick Surf spot.

Very consistent surf, it is a short wave but it stands up tall and is pretty strong. Very underestimated zone.

Average 4-6 foot waves, but they can be 10 plus.
The place is closed in fall until spring but local surfers are trying to get a key for the gate.

There are two beaches there, and crazy epic scenery.
