Visitor reviews of Grandview surf break
(NOTE: Reviews may be edited by our content team for the purposes of ensuring accurate and relevant information)
“Grandview is a very fickle spot in the bay that might break 10 times a year. The worse the storm, stronger the wind, and with an incoming tide and NNE wind, you can score this spot clean, and not a washing machine like the ocean. Come here on a low tide and your trip down the windy road was a waste of time. Wind should be at least gusting over 30, and works from waist high to double overhead. Also you need a groundswell from the ocean, this is what makes the spot magical when it gets good. The sideshore chop from the NNE comes around the jetty and cleans up and makes a perfect backdoor wedge, and you and your buddies could be trading off, hollow fun ones (mostly rights) and you can also sneak a few lefts. Breaks very close to the beach, and be weary of a few old tree stumps in the line up, you will eventually find them. This might sound like it's not in Virginia, but hey it's the bay, miles away from the ocean, not a soul in sight, and peaky barrels all around. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE me, check out a video called "hidden Chesapeake Bay wedge". I'm saying drainers breh, would rather surf here than vb when its on.”
