Gerry Quinn from Isle of Man
“Most of your comments are correct but I would argue that on a good day with SSW swell it deserves a better rating than a one. I spend a lot of time at Gansey, surf kayaking and although the swell may not be as powerful or the period as long as the west coast of Ireland or the south west coast of England and Wales it can at times be equally as big. It is inconsistent and I guess the wind is a factor, as quite often the swell will not hit the beach from the south unless we have a large low pressure south of us, but it is certainly better than a one on a good day! The reefs near by do produce some great surf conditions when the swell directtion is right. I will forward photos of Gansey.”
