Friars Bay on the West Coast is an exposed reef break that has quite reliable surf. Winter and spring are the optimum times of year to visit. Offshore winds are from the southeast. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the ideal swell direction is from the north northwest. There are left and right breaking reefs. It very rarely gets crowded here. Watch out for rocks,reef,urchins,jellyfish, and rips.
