Forte Novo Surf Guide

Forte Novo in The Algarve is an exposed breakwater break that has quite consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Ideal winds are from the northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west southwest. The breakwater break offers both left and right hand waves. Best around low tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. The crowds in the water make a gath helmet a good idea.
