Forte Novo Surf Guide

Forte Novo in The Algarve is an exposed breakwater break that has fairly consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Offshore winds are from the northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the west southwest. Waves at the breakwater break both left and right. Best around low tide. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Overcrowding can even make surfing hazardous.
