Brighton in Otago is a quite exposed beach and point break that has reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the north northwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the south. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves Best around mid tide. Rarely crowded here. “Nice beach, although realtively small with decent waves. There are rocks on both sides of the bay, and a couple in the center.”
