There is always an element of surprise when you arrive at Delaware Bay because you just don't get to see the place without actually going all the way there and at mid-tide, that means a very long paddle across the inlet. I was rewarded with head-high clean surf in the bay. As the tide dropped the gravel bars at the river produced powerful shoulder-high waves that were hollow at times. Only 2 of us out.
