Quiksilver Teams Up With PrimaLoft® For World’s First Thermal Layering System for a Wetsuit.
Feel that? If you are in the northern hemisphere, you will have had that first bite of winter. The lick of a frost, the chill of a cold offshore breeze and the sound of winter swells pounding the shores.
If you are near the mountains, your favourite jackets, gloves, and footwear might get dusted off and prepped for battle. And in that beautiful Venn diagram, you will find PrimaLoft. They have spent over 40 years developing innovative insulations that have powered your warmest winter gear.
In the case of why this hadn't been done before, Quiksilver has partnered with PrimaLoft to develop the world’s first thermal layering system for a wetsuit. For the best-in-class insulating fiber for outerwear, it will be the first time it has featured in a wetsuit.

“Previously used in our snow jackets for mountain conditions, PrimaLoft® technology, making its debut in the surf industry is huge,” said Scott Boot, Director of Wetsuits at Quiksilver. “The aim is to bring mountain-grade warmth to the waves. Surfers will be able to discover new waves in challenging environments, stay out longer and enjoy every moment in the water.”
PrimaLoft® is made up of ultra-fine fibers that efficiently trap heat to keep you insulated. The fabrics are made using 100% post-consumer recycled fiber that can be chemically recycled while also maintaining the same level of high performance and flexibility.
The wetsuits have been through a rigorous testing phase by the Quiksilver team riders on the CT throughout 2025. Having been greenlit by the likes of Griffin Colapinto, Kanoa Igarashi, Marco Mignot, Jackson Bunch and Al Cleland, they are now available to the public.
“This suit is an absolute game-changer,” said Hawaiian Jackson Bunch. "I've been wearing 3mil when I would have been in 4-mil for sure. A mil is massive when it comes to flex in wetsuits."
