Our Surf Alerts are a feature where you plug in your criteria for swell, wind and tide at your favourite breaks. We think it's one of Surf-forecast's best tools for making sure you score the type of waves perfect for you. Surf self-optimisation has never been so simple, as our mate Maddie Meddings explains below.

Follow Maddie's step-by-step guide and you won't go wrong.

When our forecast matches your preferred conditions, we ping you an email or an app notification.

It takes seconds to set up. Simply search for your favourite wave.
In the weather state box at the top of the site, click on wind/surf alert.

Choose the wave height, wind direction and speed, the preferred tide, measurement unit and how often you wish to receive the alerts.

If your local unicorn needs a six-foot south swell with a period over 12 seconds, low tide and direct offshore winds, you can really narrow down the criteria for that unique and, by the sounds of it, fickle spot.

Alternatively, if you just want to know when your favourite beach will be head high and surfable over the next 16 days, you can open up the search to include smaller-sized swells and stronger, less ideal winds. Hey, if it's three-foot and onshore, there’ll be no crowds, right?

Anthony Walsh Agrees!

“I’m always scoping swells all over the world, from home in West Oz, to Indo, and in the Pacific. I’ve got about six key Surf Alerts at my favorite go-to locations, and I swear they do all my forecast heavy lifting.”

That was Anthony Walsh, the free surfer, adventurer, big wave hellman and Surf-Forecast partner who is known as one of the premium surf hunters in the world. No wonder his hit rate is so high.

In Our App, It’s Even Easier.

Tap the alerts button, go to add, choose a break, and set up the alert based on what you want to surf.
You can add as many alerts as you like, and easily delete old ones.
And you’ll never miss a swell again! Here's an example below.
