Wairoa River Mouth in Mahia is an exposed River Mouth/Beach break that has reasonably consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Works best in offshore winds from the north. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the ideal swell direction is from the south southeast. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Best around mid tide when the tide is rising. Sometimes crowded. Take care of rips and rocks.
