Malaking Gasang (Baler) surf break:

“The left hand points and reefs up this way are sick BUT they need a maxed out 10'-12' waves hitting sabang, cobra etc on a 15'+++ swell for it to turn on this far north. It does happen maybe a couple of times a year if you are lucky.”

Orere Point surf break:

“I went after the big cyclone storm that hit the Northern parts of NZ last week and the swell was good for about a day on 04/03/2023. This spot is beautiful when the surf is good which is very rare as you can only surf this spot after a big storm due to the swell not being big enough. The waves were about a meter when I went and the spot on the other side of the river was beautiful, uncrowded and really mellow with both perfect left and right-handers. Most people went to the left of the river mouth as it was easier to get out from the mini peninsular at the edge of the river mouth. I went with my 6'10" fish and met people surfing both short and medium-long length boards. Some beautiful mini barrels and peelers on that day. Winds were super low at 4km/h from the west but the vibes of the locals were immaculate. There were people listening to music, drinking, a bonfire and people watching others surfing the river mouth. I KID YOU NOT this would be THE surf beach in Auckland if it weren't for the rarity of the surf. Make sure to take booties if you want to surf the other side of the river as you need to cross the river and the rocks are super slippery and then the rock beach on the other side can cut your feet up really badly.”

Pointe d'Imessouane surf break:

“February 2023 review: Amazing crowd, very aggressive.
Surf groups and surf teachers coming from Taghazout for day trips here.
Crowded and severe localism.
I strongly do not recommend it even if waves are great.”
