Ma Simes Surf hut:
‘Whitesands Bay: 2 ft fairly messy waves today with moderate onshore winds. Quite sloppy small waves this morning around high tide but it should get a bit better on the drop with the odd waist high set around lunchtime, before dropping off at low tide late afternoon. 4 ft tomorrow, 5 ft New years day.’
-
PorthcawlSurf (School & Hire):
‘Porthcawl: Wind has dropped a lot, but it's still a bit messy in Rest Bay at around 3-4ft on sets. Coney Beach is clean but a bit busy - a nice 3ft on sets though. Coney Beach will drop off to around 2ft by about 11 or 12 but Rest Bay should be ok as it comes off the rocks. Best get in this morning though as the wind is forecast to increase this afternoon.’

Constantine Surf:
‘Constantine Bay report: Well, the good news is that the wind has dropped, a lot and it has changed direction, a bit! Other than that it is another dull and overcast and wet old day but mild with the early morning temperature still showing 10 deg C.’
-
Constantine Surf:
‘Harlyn report: That's a shame. The wind has eased around but it seems to be stalling just a little too westerly to be completely offshore here this morning. That could yet happen so don't write it off totally and in the meantime it is okay, not great with that side wind but way better than it has been for a few days.’

Coolum:
‘Coolum surf: 20/25 knots SSE. Another great beach day with Small SE swell around 2ft that may pick up a bit on the incoming tide this morning. Small ones on the E facing points and S corners on the incoming tide early before the strong SSE winds get up. Just very small ones in the outer bays at Noosa.’

SurfWX:
‘Newcastle surf report: Just got back from an early raid down the coast, a few ordinary ones found, I wouldn’t be rushing down. Size has backed off a tad, wind also but remains SSE/SE. Models are showing another ramp up in size later today with another couple of foot added to the sets but the wind……Sunday is finally seeing some wind relief. Poo-O-Meter is stuck on four turds, only saved from the magical five by the protected corners, come on Huey you can do better than that.’
-
Coolum:
‘1.3 metres(4') 5-25 knots SSE. Great days at the beach with lighter winds and smaller surf. Get out early for the light offshore winds. Stacks of good solid shore breaks with the tide in, Twin waters, Mt Coolum and Sunshine the pick. Northern beaches offering more size. A/bay is the go for extra size and some wind protection.’
-

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has stated that a magnitude 8.2 Earthquake beneath the Sea of Okhosk did not generate a destructive Tsunami. However, we suggest that local interests also listen for statements from the Japan Meteorological Agency, located much closer to the source.
