Surf is only knee high and mostly wind chop, so there'll be a learner wave on the beachies around lunchtime. There's not a lot of tidal movement today, but low tide is around 11:30am with a small afternoon peak around 6:20pm.’

‘Newcastle surf report: Rain has cleared and we’ve lost a bit of both size and period overnight. Wind N to NNE with a NE’er on the way. Sets more 4ft than 5ft on a period of 9 seconds and still looking a little green. Just passed high tide and less water won’t hurt. Points to our north are beckoning.’

Coolum:
‘Coolum surf: 1.0 metres(3') 5-15 knots NE. All beaches looking a treat today with a great outlook for the weekend. Light variable winds today and small surf making it perfect for learning to surf or grabbing a malibu. Northern beaches Peregian, Sunrise and A/bay holding more size.’

Surf South Oz:
‘Mid-Coast SA: Conditions are clean this morning with light offshore East winds early, but there's practically no swell. Technically there is swell - it's just very South in direction and not getting into the gulf, and 70cm of tidal movement today won't do much to help.’
-
Surf South Oz:
‘South-Coast SA: Light Easterly winds are adding a bit of a lump to the swell this morning, which is very South in direction. Surf is typically wobbly along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch at around 3 - 4' ,with lumpy 2 - 3' surf around at Chiton / Gap.’
-
SurfWX:
‘Newcastle surf report: Wind not so much the problem this morning but the banks are being overwhelmed by the swell and tide. Out of the south and 5ft on the bombs. Period has added another half a second or more overnight. Rain is still with us and wind light all over the place. Some searching needed but you'll will find a wave.’
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has stated that a magnitude 8.2 Earthquake beneath the Sea of Okhosk did not generate a destructive Tsunami. However, we suggest that local interests also listen for statements from the Japan Meteorological Agency, located much closer to the source.
