Combined with the big tides, I think it is safe to say there won’t be any waves today as it is unlikely to pick up. 1 ft Tomorrow, 1-2 ft Sunday, 3-4 ft Monday..’

‘10-20 knots SSW. Solid straight ESE swell today around 4-5ft. High tide at 715am. Beach has opened at Coolum today The winds are light SSW early and are forecast to go around to the SSE later. The S corners, E facing points and Noosa are the pick as there is a lot of water moving around on the open beaches.’

‘Whitesands Bay: 0-1 ft clean waves today with moderate offshore winds. Quite flat this morning so don’t rush down the beach. There are some ripples today but the waves won’t have any size to them. If you are lucky there may be the very occasional 1 ft wave early afternoon, but the reality is that there is not much surf today. Small Friday, 1 ft Saturday, 1-2 ft Sunday plenty of messy waves Monday.’
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has stated that a magnitude 8.2 Earthquake beneath the Sea of Okhosk did not generate a destructive Tsunami. However, we suggest that local interests also listen for statements from the Japan Meteorological Agency, located much closer to the source.
