Whistling Sands (Porth Oer) on Lleyn is a fairly exposed beach break that has inconsistent surf. Winter and spring are the best times of year to visit. Works best in offshore winds from the southeast. Groundswells and windswells are equally likely and the best swell direction is from the southwest. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. Best around high tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Take care of the strong rips here.
