Walkerville Surf Forecast and Surf Reports

(Victoria – East Coast, Australia)

Surf-default-break-image
Name: Walkerville
Type: reef
Reliability: inconsistent
Best Swell: SE Offshore Wind: NW

Walkerville on the East Coast is a reasonably exposed reef break that has inconsistent surf. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the northwest. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the southeast. A right hand reef break. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Watch out for dangerous rips.

Visitor Reviews of Walkerville

Walkerville from AUSTRALIA writes:

There are several good surf breaks around Walkerville, from Morgans Beach to the West of Cape Liptrap to the Chicken Run to the East before the Waratah Bay surf breaks open out on the sandy stretch of Waratah Bay. The Walkerville area is quite rocky and booties are a necessity. Morgans Beach holds a good five foot swell and involves a long walk in through allegedly private land. Had some good left and right handers here. Wind conditions similar to Wilsons Promontory are the best that is NE. Cape Liptrap is rarely surfed due to the climb down a majot cliff. It works on a large swell and NW-SW. Never surfed it but seen it slowly come in along the point. Bear Gully is another interestign surf spot that gets some good size and works best on a SW. Between Cape Liptrap and Bear Gully is another private access only surf break unless you want to have a long trek from the Bear Gully campsite. Between Bear Gully and Walkerville is Diggers Island which requires a good swell and works on a SW. Then comes Walkerville South which gets a good malibu wave on a massive swell and is protected from the offshore SW by massive cliffs. Telephones, The Hole and Dunnyblock are the next waves and break along a razor sharp black reef on a SW and have a bit of form and are great to surf in driving rain. Cooks Creek is the last break before the Chicken Run and then it is all sand until Wilsons Promontory granite at Darby River. I love it.
