The Spit Surf Forecast and Surf Reports

(South Australia – Yorke Peninsula)

Surf-default-break-image
Name: The Spit
Type: point
Reliability: consistent
Best Swell: SW Offshore Wind: E

The Spit in Yorke Peninsula is an exposed point break that usually has waves, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Works best in offshore winds from the east. Groundswells are more common than windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. A left hand reef. Best around mid tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Watch out for rips, rocks, sharks and isolation.

Secret spot? We can hide it!

IMPORTANT: Beta version feature! Swell heights are open water values from NWW3. There is no attempt to model near-shore effects. Coastal wave heights will generally be less, especially if the break does not have unobstructed exposure to the open ocean.
