Te Araroa in East Cape is an exposed beach and point break that has consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the south southwest with some shelter here from southeast winds. Surfable in an onshore breeze Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the northeast. Waves at the beach tend to peel to the left Good surf at all stages of the tide. The location means that it never gets crowded. Be wary of rips - they make surfing here dangerous.
